Up to one grant will be awarded per year to recognize an individual’s talent and interest in vocational fields related to trade careers. The fields include, but are not limited to, automotive technology, cosmetology, culinary arts, electrical work, HVAC, healthcare, plumbing, welding, or a related vocational industry. Applicants must be a high school senior or college student currently pursuing vocational/trade education and must reside in Santa Fe Springs or attend a school located in Santa Fe Springs. Proof of residency will be required and is subject to verification. Any falsification of information on this application is subject to disqualification, termination, and repayment of the grant. Minimum Qualifications: Proof of residency in the city of Santa Fe Springs or attending a school located in Santa Fe Springs. Copy of most recent transcript(s) showing a minimum GPA of 2.0 (Applicant must be a High School Senior or currently enrolled in college or trade school) Essay explaining why you are a suitable candidate for this grant (up to two pages double-spaced) Two letters of recommendation from adults who are not family members. College or Trade School(s) to which applications have been submitted and/or accepted. Active participation in extracurricular activities and demonstrated leadership qualities. The grant monies provided by the Santa Fe Springs Chamber/League Youth Enrichment Fund, "The Vocational Grant" are a gift and are always subject to funds availability. The grant amount will not exceed $1,500 in any year. Applicants are not restricted in the grant application process for one year; however, they must apply annually for reconsideration.
